My 2024… February

I have reviewed my photos taken over the course of 2024 to pick out my favourites.

I have taken it month by month, picking my favourite 5 images from each month. Some months were harder than others to narrow it down; some months were hard to choose 5, as there were only 5 ones I really liked! Once I worked my way through each month, I was then be able to choose the top 5 for the entire year, titled ‘My 2024’

Second up is February. The images are ordered from least favourite to most favourite. The top 3 images (bronze, silver, gold) go into the ‘My 2024’ final.

'What’s Up?’

February, 2024.

FIFTH PLACE. I was quite pleased with this image of a gold crest looking up. They’re very nimble, darting birds, hard to pin them down to one spot, and so was happy with how this one turned out.

'On Guard’

February, 2024.

FOURTH PLACE. The dog was completely focused on task at hand: keeping a lookout for cats. In a way, I think it is jealousy of their freedom to wander the streets, whilst he feels obliged to stick to his territory.

'Rosberg’s Williams’

February, 2024.

BRONZE. This car was (or was a replica of) Keke Rosberg’s 1982 Formula 1 World Championship winning ‘Fly Saudi’ Williams, which was very cool to see in its natural environment. Panning resulted in motion blur with spinning wheels but crisp car itself.

'Baton Final Leg’

February, 2024.

SILVER. I really like the colours and the fast action shot of the dog racing back towards the camera and how his ears point up slightly. The dog in his absolute element.

'Speeding Porsche’

February, 2024.

GOLD. My favourite photograph of the month is of a Porsche at Donington Park. I really like the amount of light on the car, and black and white just felt right here. The panning technique I was practicing worked as well as I could have hoped, and I think it is a really strong image. It also won a prize at Shepshed and District Camera Club ‘prints competition’ evening!
